Since my first tattoo when I was 18 at Sunset Strip Tattoo in Hollywood, I felt at home in tattoo shops. In my early 20's living in Los Angeles (where I grew up) I mostly expressed my creativity through music. I dropped out of college and was in several bands in an attempt to be a rock star. I eventually sold my music equipment and moved to San Francisco where I finished college and worked in the non-profit, co-operative and creative internet sectors doing human resources and organizational development.
In 2001 I was laid off from my day job - another dot bomb victim - and took the opportunity to once again pursue a creative career. All the while getting heavily tattooed and making art, I quickly realized that tattooing was my true calling.
I spent the next 3 years working among 3 San Francisco Bay Area tattoo studios where I apprenticed, learned all about sterilization and cross contamination prevention, and all aspects of the art form. I then worked at the esteemed Black & Blue Tattoo from 2004 - 2007 before relocating to Portland and working at Infinity Tattoo from 2007 - 2009.
I am now the proud 1/2 owner of New Rose Tattoo along with Traci - another amazing artist who also shares my appreciation of custom artwork in a welcoming environment. I have a strong work ethic, a great attitude, and a high level of professionalism. I live, breathe and eat tattooing, I love to draw and discuss tattoo designs. I am a versatile artist and tattoo in a variety of styles. I particularly enjoy bold line work and doing black and gray pieces as well as intense color tattoos.
When not tattooing, I like to make art, hang out with my beautiful family and wonderful friends, snuggle my Chihuahuas, cook, ride old bicycles, and take my motorcycle places with lots of negative ions.
